Gearing up

At M2M, we’re always figuring out new ways to measure parts and products better and faster.

Our latest purchase: PC-DMIS Gear 2.4. Gears present special challenges for measurement, with their varying shapes and multitude of angles. But this premier software helps us do it all in-house!

With PC-DMIS Gear, we can:
  • Create gear alignments;
  • Define the desired gear parameters (including pitch/runout, profile, helix/lead, tip/root, pitch (bevel gears), and topography (bevel gears));
  • Measure the gears, via both analog and touch trigger probes (also includes the ability to measure a master flank, providing an average for all the measured flanks on a bevel gear);
  • Analyze the gear data.

What does all this mean? As always, greater efficiency and accuracy—two things we strive for here at Made to Measure!

Ready for some new gear measurements? Give us a call!

Shedding some light on the subject

Designing, machining, welding, painting—we do it all on-site! Whatever you need, we're there to do it.

We created a PC-DMIS program on our touch probe CMM to create a full dimensional layout for this plate for LED lighting. We subsequently designed and built this test fixture to study light illumination.

Have some questions about the dimensions on your product? Need help designing a product? We've done it all. Whether running intricate calculations or wielding a can of spraypaint, we're here to help get your products into top shape!

The final frontier

We get to work in quite the variety of industries. We've measured martini glasses. We've measured chapstick. We've measured cars and toothpaste tubes and crystal-growing furnaces.

And sometimes we get to measure things a little out of this world, too. Like a couple weeks ago.

These machined parts for the aerospace industry contain 350 dimensions. Our team pulled a long weekend to make sure our customer had their needed results by Monday morning. Our customer always comes first!
